ABOUT THE POSITION
Senior Transportation Planner | Hybrid | New York, NY | Newark, NJ
VHB's NYC metro team is looking for a Senior Transportation Planner to join our growing Mobility group. Responsibilities
- Lead and/or assist with authorship of project-related documentation for a range of transportation planning studies and multi-modal oriented projects
- Lead and/or assist with the preparation of technical presentations and materials to support meetings with clients, consultant partners, and other stakeholders (in person and virtual)
- Prepare transportation impact, corridor and intersection improvement studies
- Prepare conceptual designs for roadways, intersections, pedestrian and bicycle paths, etc.
- Conduct safety analysis, develop recommendations, and safety studies
- Prepare technical reports and present findings and results to clients
- Project management or serve as a task leader on small to mid-size projects
Skills and Abilities
- Strong leadership and project/task management skills
- Team oriented with the ability to manage multiple assignments and mentor junior staff
- Skilled in transportation planning, traffic modeling, task management, and supervision of professional staff where applicable
- Skilled in applying transportation planning concepts, practices, and procedures
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to think critically and strategically in solving problems and devising approaches
- Strong writing skills for proposals, technical reports, and memoranda
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in planning or related field (e.g., Urban Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Urban Design/Studies, Regional Planning, Sustainability Planning, Civil Engineering)
- Master's degree preferred (may substitute for 1 year of experience)
- 8 - 11 years professional transportation planning experience required
- Knowledgeable of industry-standard software design and analysis systems (e.g., CAD, Synchro, Vissim, ArcGIS/data management and/or HCS)
- AICP certification preferred
Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $110,000-135,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
