What are the responsibilities and job description for the User Experience Researcher position at Vanguard?
As a UX Researcher, you’ll contribute to and lead defined research projects to transform our Institutional B2B products. You’ll partner with internal and external business, strategy, design, and technology organizations to lead innovation of client-facing digital experiences informed by client needs, market trends, and the latest technology. At the core of this role, your research insights will directly impact client outcomes.
As part of the Institutional Investor Group – Customer Experience User Experience Team, you’ll join a group of UX specialists with a growth mindset working on products that improve people’s financial wellness. Beyond working with an amazing group of researchers, strategists, designers and content writers–all who have hybrid/diverse backgrounds, you’ll be able to collaboratively define processes and set best practices while enjoying a great team culture and supportive leadership. You’ll also be joining a team, who, in the words of one of its’ members, “is a bunch of nerdy sweethearts who care about creating great client experiences using human-centered design methods.”
Core Responsibilities
Identifies and prioritizes research needs and questions with stakeholders.
Writes a plan for each stage of research, which includes defined learning objectives, methods, approach, timeline, and recruitment/sampling criteria and tactics. Communicates plan to stakeholders and gains necessary buy-in.
Creates research instruments (e.g., discussion guide, survey questions, usability task list) that incorporate stimuli as needed. Establishes observation and note-taking guidelines and tools.
Conducts a broad range of qualitative and/or quantitative research activities depending on the project needs. Collects data and notes while ensuring data privacy and protecting personally identifying information. Facilitates debriefs with the project team.
Analyzes data to look for meaningful patterns and insights. Notes design implications and documents findings. Ensures recommendations are actionable and aligned with business priorities.
Prepares sharable research reports that integrate primary and secondary research.
Presents research insights to stakeholders in compelling and creative ways to gain buy-in. Negotiates adoption of critical recommendations to improve the client experience.
Manages own workload to ensure work is prioritized and time is managed effectively.
Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
One to three years related experience in User Experience or User Interface research.
Undergraduate degree, certification, or equivalent combination of training and experience in the UX research field. Graduate degree preferred.
