What are the responsibilities and job description for the Freight Flow Manager position at Variety Wholesalers?
Oversees the stockroom and merchandise flow operations to maintain an operationally sound and profitable store.
Essential Functions
- Oversee and direct the processing of incoming and outgoing merchandise consistent with Company policies and procedures.
- Devise and implement work schedules for Customer Service Associates in the assigned area to ensure sufficient labor availability to complete all tasks within budget.
- Ensure accurate receiving, pricing, and ticketing of all receipts in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
- Plan and control freight flow activity from receiving area to the sales floor.
- Oversee stocking activities on sales floor and in the stockroom to maximize sales floor in-stock, maintain planogram integrity, and control overstocks.
- Project positive leadership to both the customer and all associates.
- Follow all Company policies and procedures in order to maximize customer service, sales, and store profitability.
- Ensure integrity of information within the store's Backroom System.
- Act as the Manager on Duty with store opening responsibilities.
- Select, develop, motivate, train, and retain Customer Service Associates performing stockroom and merchandise flow functions.
Ancillary Functions
- Assist with the loading and unloading of freight.
- Assist with cash pick-ups and making bank deposits.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Act as Manager on Duty with closing responsibilities to cover for vacant positions, vacation, and emergencies.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- High School Diploma
- Up to 1 year of relevant experience with demonstrated achievements and progressive responsibilities
- Strong planning and communication skills
- Team-oriented work style
- Demonstrated level of proficiency and knowledge of store operations policies, procedures, and systems
Working Conditions
- Retail store stockroom environment subject to fluctuations in temperature
- Frequent lifting and maneuvering of merchandise and displays
- Exposure to dust and extreme temperatures while unloading trailers
- Scheduled work hours may vary, to include early morning, evenings and weekends
- Occasional use of ladders required

- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
- Supervising Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
