Notes: 8 hour shift, work every other weekend

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team at a correctional facility. As an RN in the correctional setting, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive medical care to inmates within the facility. Your responsibilities will include assessing and addressing their healthcare needs, administering treatments, and promoting health education to support their well-being during their time of incarceration.

Responsibilities:

• Inmate Health Assessment: Perform thorough health assessments on inmates upon their admission to the facility and conduct regular health screenings to identify medical conditions and potential health risks.
• Medical Care: Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and nursing interventions to address acute and chronic health issues. Monitor inmates' response to treatments and adjust care plans as needed.
• Emergency Response: Respond promptly to medical emergencies within the correctional facility and provide immediate care and life-saving interventions as required.
• Health Education: Conduct health education sessions for inmates on topics such as disease prevention, hygiene, nutrition, and self-care to promote healthy habits and disease management.
• Mental Health Support: Collaborate with mental health professionals to identify inmates in need of psychological support and refer them to appropriate services.
• Medical Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records of each inmate, including assessments, treatments, and medications administered, adhering to patient confidentiality regulations.
• Infection Control: Follow strict infection control protocols to prevent the spread of contagious diseases within the facility.
• Communication: Interact with correctional officers, healthcare staff, and other departments to ensure coordinated and efficient healthcare delivery.
• Crisis Intervention: Assist in managing crisis situations involving medical and mental health emergencies within the correctional facility.
• Collaborative Care: Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurse practitioners, mental health professionals, and administrative staff, to ensure comprehensive and patient-centered care.
• Medication Management: Oversee medication distribution and maintain a secure and organized medication administration process.
• Health Promotion: Participate in health promotion initiatives and disease prevention programs within the correctional facility.

Qualifications:

• Current and unrestricted RN license in the state of practice.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program and possession of a nursing degree (ADN or BSN).
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Previous nursing experience in corrections, acute care, or a related healthcare setting is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills to address the unique healthcare needs of inmates.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions while adhering to policies and protocols.
• Compassionate and non-judgmental approach in providing healthcare to incarcerated individuals.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with patients from diverse backgrounds.
• Willingness to work in a secure and controlled environment, following all safety and security procedures.

Salary: $60.00 - $65.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

• Corrections: 1 year (Preferred)
