Responsibilities
What You'll Do
- The Logistics Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing and coordinating various aspects of logistics operations, ensuring efficient and effective management of planning, shipping, warehouse management, and inventory systems. This position involves managing daily operations, shipment schedules, and delivery processes. The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for tracking shipment progress, coordinating logistics operations, and collaborating with direct reports to review and manage inventory needs.
- Key responsibilities include maintaining purchasing orders, processing customer orders, receiving and inspecting goods, and managing vendor delivery schedules. The role also involves leading and training employees, enforcing safety guidelines, and ensuring compliance with logistics and warehouse processes. The Logistics Supervisor is instrumental in managing subcontractor performance, scheduling shipments, and planning weekly workloads.
- Understanding planning, shipping, warehouse management and inventory systems
- Manage daily operation, schedules of shipments and deliveries.
- Tracking the progress of shipments
- Coordinate all aspects of logistics operations.
- Coordinate with direct reports to review all inventory needs and stock inventory.
- Monitors and maintains purchasing orders as required; tracks orders and investigates problems & discrepancies.
- Coordinates accurate and timely processing of orders for customers in the program.
- Oversee and/or perform receipt, inspection, unpacking, and delivery of ordered goods- be able to decide and process the best mode of shipment based on requirement and urgency.
- May lead, guide, and train employees, as appropriate to the area of operation.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the management of Supply Chain.
- Coordinate & approve vendor delivery schedule associated including pick-ups
- Support with maintenance of logistics policies & procedures
- Manage and monitor the performance of subcontractor, and scheduling planning.
- Responsible for accurate and timely pulling and shipping of material and equipment ordered by the program.
- Schedule inbound & outbound shipment/deliveries.
- Plan and schedule the weekly workload.
- Ensure that Transfer Sheets and PO receipts are completed and verified.
- Responsible for the receipt, handling, storing and shipment of material.
- Ensuring that procedures are completed in accordance with established Logistics and Warehouse processes.
- Ensures that all employees are aware of their job duties and are cross-trained in any capacity that is necessary to aide in development and growth of staff.
- Observe employee’s performance and trains in proper processes and standards.
- Enforces safety guidelines and rules, GMP requirements and all company policies within his/her area.
Education / Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
Education
- BA/BS degree in Business, Management or Relevant Technical Discipline. One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education if degree is required.
- Minimum 4 years' of direct experience in Government and commercial defense markets.
- 2 years' supervisory experience.
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance within 1 year if required.
- U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data system.
- Experience working in the DoD Aerospace & Defense industry and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
- Experience with Supply Chain processes and related systems
- Program and/or functional experience managing material (SCM, Engineering Program/Integrated Program Team (IPT), Operations)
- Experience with contract flow down requirements and how to filter those specific to
- Experience with ITAR licenses, INCOTERMS, freight forwarders and couriers
- Experience with DoD airframe contractor logistics support
- Comprehensive computer knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office programs.
- Additional skills include the following: briefing skills, project management, organizational skills, and communication skills.

- Good problem solving, negotiation and organizational skills/techniques.

- English language skills to communicate and negotiate with vendors.
