Description of Job

We are seeking a salaried full-time, seasoned HR Generalist professional to work onsite at our Tipton location. Hourly employees at the Tipton plant are represented by Teamsters Local 517, This role will be responsible for the day to day maintenance of attendance records, Labor Alliance Insurance plan records, personnel files, new hire hourly orientation, review and correction of hourly timekeeping records, maintenance of grievance files, reconciliation of petty cash and other duties in the employee relations area. The position reports to the Tipton Sr. Employee Relations Specialist and has frequent contact with Corporate Payroll and Human Resources teams and Local 517 representatives.

What you will do in your role

  • Responsible for understanding Ventura Coastal’s Company, H.R. programs and policies and government regulations as they relate to benefits, payroll and personnel to allow them to educate and answer any questions employees may have.
  • Execute Collective Bargaining Agreement responsibilities with monitoring employee attendance and administering disciplinary action when required; administering the CBA employee bidding/bumping process.
  • Track employee eligibility with respect to Labor Alliance Benefits Plan eligibility. Work in conjunction with Local 517 and Ventura Coastal Benefits Administrator to ensure that invoices are paid accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with researching information to settle formal grievances filed by Local 517.
  • Actively participate and provide information and input into Joint Labor Relations Meetings and Collective Bargaining meetings.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate information and records for all employees. This include changes in personal information, promotions, compensation, time-off requests, layoff/recalls and termination. All changes must be accurately entered in the HRIS system.
  • Organizes and maintains confidential Employee H.R. files.
  • Assists the Sr Employee Relations Specialist with on-boarding of new team members including verifying I-9 documentation and completing E-Verify documentation and input, Ensures that all new hire paperwork has been completed by the employee and that they are issued ID badges, Proximity badges, PPE,
  • Will participate in interviews for hourly employee candidates. Will conduct salary level interviews in the absence of the Sr Employee Relations Specialist.
  • Ensures that Applicant Tracking System is maintained.
  • Interfaces with all Temporary Employee Agencies and maintains/tracks all Temporary Employee’s timecards. Ensures that various Meal/Rest Break forms/waivers are completed in a timely/accurate manner and delivered to Payroll and Corporate H.R.
  • Maintain and prepare time and attendance records to ensure timely payroll. Coordinate the communication of the information to payroll and administer plant attendance points. Assists in putting employee schedules in to the HRIS platform.
  • Reconcile petty cash fund at the endo the month
  • Ensures that all mandatory postings on bulletin boards are in compliance with all federal and local labor and employment laws.
  • Will represent the Tipton H.R. function in the absence of the Sr Employee Relations Specialist. May participate in confidential investigations.
  • Serves as plant receptionist; orders supplies; manages petty cash records and reconciliation, manages company uniform program,
  • Serves as overall office coordinator for incoming/outgoing mail; office equipment.
  • Orders office supplies as needed.
  • Assists the Sr Employee Relations Specialist with set up and coordination of company social events.
  • Follow all safety and GMP rules and practices. Participate as an active member of the plant safety committee.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and required.

The experience and education you will bring

  • Minimum Associates Degree preferred
  • Two to five (2-5) years’ experience in the Human Resources field and / or payroll related experience.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and communicate with tact and discretion.
  • Ability to adhere to the highest level of professionalism by demonstrating honesty, integrity and leadership. Extra effort is taken to improve knowledge and skills to be the best in the profession.
  • Good administrative and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work successfully in a team involvement environment is necessary.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment with frequent changes in direction
  • Must be flexible and adapt to change easily.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products: Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint and large-scale ERP applications a must.
