Position Summary:
The Pre-weigh/ Set-up person is responsible for the preparation of ingredient set-ups in accordance with the formula requirements.
5am start, Mon-Thu schedule (4 x 10 hours) with occasional daily and Friday overtime.
$21 per hour
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews the next day’s production schedule and determining based on this schedule, what the next days set-up requirements.
- Follows the Pre-weigh batch sheets in preparing set-ups. Packages the set-ups in the required container(s) and marks accordingly.
- Reads and records ingredient lot numbers on the appropriate forms.
- Maintains a daily inventory of ingredients used for the set-ups. Notifies the foreperson and or purchasing of any present or future ingredient shortages.
- Responsible for ingredient stock rotation and the transfer of ingredients from the warehouse storage area to the set-up area.
- Perform assigned tasks in JDE.
- Maintains a clean, organized and safe work area in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Performs additional duties as directed.
- Comply with all Food Safety policies, procedures and regulations including GMP’s, Quality Assurance procedures, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point and GFSI/SQF level 2 or other 3rd party audit criteria as they apply to this position.
- Follow all Safety, associated SOP’s and LOTO guideline and programs.
- Must adhere to all Ventura Foods Company policies.
Education and Experience:
- Must have the ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
- Must have the ability to add, subtract, divide and multiply using a basic calculator.
- Must be able to utilize time in an efficient manner and work with limited supervision.
- Must be qualified to operate forklifts in a safe and efficient manner.
- Must possess a mechanical aptitude and ability sufficient to maintain line efficiencies and to assist maintenance in trouble shooting diagnostics in the event of a mechanical deficiency.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently.
- With the ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, handle, push and pull throughout a work shift.
- Must be capable of carrying out duties/ jobs for any worker that is abscent for the shift.
- Must have the ability to carry out repetitive activities throughout a work shift.
Physical Demands:
Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s). Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance. Additional demands may be required.
Work Environment:
In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed. May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards. May require work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.
