Job Description
Summary
- Technician I and II are responsible for performing various general labor activities that include the operation of large machinery that provide assistance to the job site.
Primary Duties / Responsibilities
- Operates a vehicle or other special equipment such as forklift, backhoe, amphibious vehicle, or vactor as part of the general labor duties.
- Performs maintenance on the property and in field as required via the use of a maintenance request for or verbal request.
- Keeps a log of all maintenance activities, date of work completed, and as much detail as possible as to what work was performed.
- Make scheduled inspections of the grounds.
- Performs lawn and gardening maintenance and repair.
- Performs various tasks (i.e., shoveling, transfers manhole covers, handle ect.) to assist Crew Leader.
- Assist with identifying safety improvements related to the facilities, equipment, or procedures.
- Understands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
Education / Experience / Background
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1-5 years work experience in related field.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Good working knowledge of basic hand and power tools.
- Performs regular checks of equipment conditions, noting deficiencies and following maintenance procedures. Notifies supervisor of needed maintenance.
- Ability to read technical material, blueprints (understands symbols)/.Knowledge of codes, safety devices and procedures.
Required Certification / Licenses / Training
- Must have valid Mississippi driver’s license (CDL preferred)
- No more than two (2) speeding tickets in the last two (2) years
- No DUI in the last three (3) years
- No convictions in the last eight (8) years for the following:
- Violent crimes
- Larceny
- Drug charges
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
- Physical requirements include frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, and squatting, crawling, sitting, occasional lifting of up to 50lbs. Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces.
- Communicate effectively via written and oral methods with co-workers, supervisor, managers, and others when necessary.
