Material Handler ( Union)

6:00 am - 4:30 pm two weeks days,
then 6:00 pm - 4:30 am two weeks night
$17.51/hr

We work with many clients to retrieve and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials. Whenever possible, we will recycle these materials. Materials that cannot be recycled will be disposed of properly to ensure future generations' safe and healthy environments.
- Assemble boxes and stage all necessary materials for processing and repackaging waste into charge boxes for the incinerator.
- Suit up with proper personal protective equipment and other necessary equipment for environmental protection.
- Break down and extract waste materials (including hard solids that may require a jackhammer) from various vendor containers and dump them into a mixing pan.
- Process materials into various combinations of solids, mixes, and slurries and repackages into charge boxes per process/plan weigh all charges to met, price and, plan specifications.
- Record all material processed to maintain in-process inventory data using electronic scanning devices.
- Shrink-wrap charges; move to incinerator dock for burning.
- Consolidate material from drums into roll-off containers for incineration.
- Reclaim vendor drums for recycling and crushing drums that are not reusable.
- Dump waste hoppers, clean the process area and maintain cleanliness around the department.
- Change out air supply banks (provides clean air source for personal protective suits) as required.
- Maintain a complete inventory of personal protection equipment and other departmental supplies.
- Communicate with all leadmen and on-coming shift crews as required.
Qualifications - Internal
Education/Experience:
· High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required
Certification/Licenses:
· 24-Hour/40-Hour HAZWOPER training preferred, but not required
· Forklift license preferred
