Job Description
Supports and drives operational excellence in the company’s core business. Manage, oversee and coordinate all aspects of the operation of approximately 15 Water and Energy O&M projects with total revenue/EBITDA of $35M/$6M, including but not limited to safety of the employees; client relations; operations planning; regulatory and contract compliance. Overall responsibility for maintaining ongoing client communications to keep client informed and enhance client relations; contractual deliverables; establishing budgets within Long Term Plan and meeting financial expectations; supervision of Operations management team and unionized labor force where applicable.
1. Provides leadership and direction for all aspects of integrated operating and production facilities including but not limited to the following: plant operations, planning, ensuring management tools are in place to meet regulatory and contract requirements.
2. Coaches, counsels and trains management staff; ensures that all operations staff are trained at a high level for both safety and operations.
3. Customer Service: overall responsibility to ensure that the operating group is meeting the expectations of the client, ensuring deliverables are timely and providing a high level of
communication to ensure that the client knows that we are providing a high level of service.
4. Develops and implements strategies that improve execution of our work and provide additional value to the client. Ensures that management plans, Process Control Management Plan and SOP’s are up to date, accurate, are used and are providing value.
5. Oversees the preparation of regulatory and contractually required reports.
6. Uses corporate financial systems to review spending and budget variances, forecasts spending assists the Operations budget owners with managing the budget, and assists senior management and financial staff in budgeting and forecasting.
7. Drives collaboration with peers throughout FBS and VNA to help ensure that best practices are shared and implemented.
8. Manages individual performance, personal development and succession plan for the Operations management team.
Qualifications
Education /Experience /Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of eight years of supervision or management of operations.
- Experience in either Industrial water wastewater, energy or utility operations.
- Management of large systems is greatly preferred.
Knowledge /Skills /Abilities
- Excellent demonstrated project management skills are required.
- Customer focus: Ability to maintain awareness of and seek to meet the needs of the
- Excellent communication skills are required – both oral and written.
- Leadership skills: Actively lead by example; guide, develop and mentor others both within and outside of the Operations group. Strong team approach.
- Initiative – Engages in proactive behavior, looking for potential problems and opportunities
- Strong analytical skills for both the technical and financial side of the business
- Excellent computer skills: to include use of SCADA, historian, as well as G Suite applications
Required Certification / Licenses / Training
- Applicable Certification.
