This is a hybrid position; employees are able to work from home on Monday and Friday, but should be in the office Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
This Accountant IV senior level staff position analyzes, classifies, and reviews complex accounting transactions and interrelationships. Prepares interpretations of accounting results to communicate with operations, FP&A, and Accounting management. Reviews and analyzes financial statements and documents for conformance with accounting policies and principles. Responsible for identifying issues, completing research and implementing solutions while providing support for other Accounting staff to assist with their reviews, research and solutions. Responsible for compliance with US GAAP plus International Accounting and SEC guidance when relevant. Will have lead responsibilities for special projects and review of staff level work. Works with limited supervision and self-directed workflow. Responsible for oversight and maintenance of the control environment. This role will support the businesses of Vericast.
KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- General Accounting: Performs complex account reconciliations (revenue recognition, fixed assets and intercompany) to ensure completeness and accuracy and compliance with accounting requirements. Responsible for compliance with US GAAP and adherence with the control environment. Prepares projections of accounting data to show effects of proposed changes on company financial statements. Responsible for mentoring others in a developing role. 20%
- Month End Close: Analyzes, classifies and reviews complex accounting transactions and interrelationships. Performs general accounting activity and reviews in accordance with GAAP. Provides adequate documentation for assigned journal entries. Reviews work of other accountants. Responsible for identifying issues and reviewing those presented by Accounting staff; researching and implementing solutions based on their materiality. Prepares and reviews accounting entries and identifies anomalies in results for management review. Coordinates with relevant business owners to ensure all activity is properly reflected in the financial statements and that appropriate cutoffs are reflected in the correct accounting period. 20%
- Audit: Responsible for internal and external audit requirements as assigned including coordination of support compilation with financial and non-financial resources. Ensures documentation is aligned with financial statement balances and demonstrates an appropriate audit trail. May act as an audit facilitator for Interim and Year End Periods. 20%
- Financial Reporting & Analytics: Performs analytics on financial statements to identify anomalies for management review. Compiles and reviews documentation for quarterly and annual reporting and ensures compliance with all relevant disclosure requirements. Supports preparation of GAAP checklists. 15%
- Process Improvements and Procedures: Demonstrates a commitment to the process for continuous improvement, identifies and responds actively and with sensitivity to the needs of end users and is open and responsive to change. Maintains desktop procedures and ensures business processes are in place to help meet or exceed goals and key performance measures. Reviews staff level procedures to ensure they are thorough and up to date. 10%
- Special Projects: Participates in ad hoc teams to evaluate accounting requirements to support existing or changing business needs. Participates on special team projects as required. Assists in business combination accounting and analysis. Supports due diligence efforts as required. 10%
- Systems & Interfaces: Ensures that systems and procedures comply with company policies, generally accepted accounting principles and applicable regulations. Responsible for maintaining and reconciling sub-system interfaces to the general ledger as assigned. Responsible for supporting master data management. 5%
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA or Master's in Accounting a plus.
- CPA is strongly preferred, but may consider based on experience.
- 8 years of accounting experience or 6 years with a Master's degree
- Must demonstrate experience and proficiency in applying accounting principles and concepts.
- Must have a solid history of financial statement review and technical accounting research is a plus.
- Must have strong Excel skills; advanced Excel level skills preferred
- Possessing leadership or management experience a plus.
- Significant team involvement both within and outside the work group.
- SAP Oracle & Hyperion Essbase experience a plus.
