About the Role
The Director of Finance will serve as primary leadership and resource directing the local finance operations team within Casualty. The role will partner with Verisk’s corporate Finance group to collaborate with the senior management within Casualty Solutions, and to provide finance advisory, support services, strategic advisory and analysis services to the Casualty Solutions operations. The role oversees and drives compliance and efficiency in all financial matters of the Casualty Solutions business. The role will work in close collaboration with senior management at Casualty Solutions and Verisk’s corporate finance group to administer financial processes, (i.e., accounting and financial reporting, budget and decision support, and accounts receivable/payable functions). About the Day to Day Responsibilities of the Role
- Provide day-to-day leadership to team of finance professionals including coordinating and supervising the activities of staff to ensure timely completion of the duties and responsibilities of the department.
- Responsible for coordinator and completion of month-end-close.
- Coordinate the preparation of finance statements, financial reports, special analysis, and information requests.
- Oversee and gain efficiencies in the approval and processing of billing, and subsequent collections, as well as expense processing.
- Drive, in partnership with Verisk Finance, annual budgeting, strategic 5 year plan, and quarterly forecasting in coordination with Senior Management and Corporate Finance.
- Ensure SOX compliance; become the point person for the organization.
- Ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial information to Verisk.
- Recruit, develop, manage, and retain an efficient team; work in close collaboration with corporate Finance team members
- Manage revenue and expense tracking, reporting and analysis
- Manage financial analysis and cost reporting initiatives
- Project owner for billing and billing system enhancements as needed
- Responsible for new product pricing models
Qualifications
About You and How You Can Excel in This Role
- Min. of 8 years financial experience with min. 2 years in a managerial role
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA preferred
- Strong financial analytical skills and proven problem-solving ability
- Exhibit exceptional judgment and ability to prioritize and handle matters independently
- Strong interpersonal, communications, public speaking, and presentation skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability with drive for results
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Teams) and Excel skills (tables, formulas, pivots tables, Vlookups, etc.)
- Proficient and demonstrated experience with accounts receivables, methods, and practices
- Knowledge of the insurance industry is preferred, and experience with multi-location organizations is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work across functional boundaries to achieve results.
- Exhibit exceptional judgment and ability to prioritize and handle matters independently
