Job Description
We are looking for a Software Engineer-II to work as part of ClaimSearch team in our Jersey City, NJ office. ISO ClaimSearch is the property/casualty insurance industry's largest claims database, providing robust claim analysis and fraud detection.
You will be responsible for designing and developing components of Visualized ClaimSearch solution. VCS platform allows SIU users to search and view MatchReports that provides actionable insights into their company’s claims.
You will be working as full stack engineer in a SCRUM team and work directly with product owners, QA and UX teams as well as other engineering teams.
About the Day to Day Responsibilities of the Role:
• Design and build high performance, scalable and reliable component-based applications using latest technologies such as AWS, Docker, Elasticsearch etc.
• Design clear and concise REST service interfaces with corresponding documentation
• Write unit tests in a TDD (Test Driven Design) manner to ensure code quality
• Write integration tests based on defined acceptance criteria and in conjunction with QA
• Develop new applications as well as enhance and support existing applications
• Effectively resolve production problems in a timely manner by rapidly organizing and deploying the appropriate resources.
• Continuously review problems to determine the root cause to prevent them in the future.
• Ensure that secure coding practices are followed throughout the software life cycle
• Learn from senior team members regarding proper application design and security
• Participates in planning meetings, retrospectives, daily stand ups, and other meetings as part of the software development process
• Experiment with new technologies and provide recommendations for product improvement
• Mentor junior team members in proper application design and security.
• Effectively communicate software solution expectations to internal customers, team members and other stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
Qualifications
• Fluent in Java, SQL, XML, JSON
• Experience working with Spring, Hibernate and Message Queues
• Experience working in JavaScript frameworks such as Ember.js or AngularJS
• Experience with AWS, Docker, Elasticsearch a plus
• Understanding and exposure to creating and consuming RESTful services
• Working knowledge of software development tools
• Knowledge of testing methodologies and Agile processes
• Familiarity with continuous integration concepts and processes
• Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations
• Experience leading small technical teams
• Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to continuously changing technology
• Effectively translated complex customer requirements and recommended system solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audience
• Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related field) from four-year college or university with minimum 3.0 GPA
• 2-4 years of experience or similar ability in software development
