We are seeking a talented and driven Research Analyst to support and help grow our supply-side oil forecasting in Denver, CO. The role will be a part of a growing short-term analytics group and will support and work closely with various subject matter experts within the forecasting team. It is a great opportunity for an entrepreneurial and innovative person who is looking to help develop and grow an exciting product line.
About the role
Wood Mackenzie’s short-term oils group thrives on providing, near-real-time insights and analytics on oil markets. The forecasting team operates within the broader short-term oils group, providing analytics, modeling, and forecasting expertise. You will support clients, prospects and internal customers and grow to be a subject matter expert in petroleum research and supply forecasting.
You will maintain country forecasts at the oil field and basin level, processing satellite imagery and other signals into market-relevant indicators and helping to write customer-facing reports and publications. The role will work closely with the team in data collection and data quality assessment, some of which are difficult to obtain. This position will blend quantitative data with real-time news flow to help create a more accurate oil forecasting model.

Qualifications

• You have experience forecasting hydrocarbon supply and are familiar with oil market supply and demand fundamentals.
• You show initiative through researching and tackling new problems with little guidance from others.
• You have the ability to learn established processes and procedures carefully, with attention to detail, while also an ability to improve and evolve current processes.
• You are a super-user of Excel and have basic experience with databases.
• You are interested in a job that balances quantitative data analysis with writing tasks.
• You are fascinated by reading about current events and global economic trends.
• You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Economics, or related.
