Position Overview 

As a Scrum Master at Verisk Marketing Solutions, you will function as a leader enabling teams to deliver business value in the software being developed, protecting teams from external interferences, resolving impediments that teams encounter and coaching teams in better ways of achieving software agility. 

About the Day-to-Day Responsibilities: 

  • Organize and drive product development throughout the Sprints, including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, Sprint Refinements, and Sprint Retrospectives.  

  • Assist Product Owners, Development, Data, and IT teams with backlog refinement and prioritization.  

  • Review and maintain adherence to company-defined Definitions of Ready and Done.  

  • Facilitate the teams' abilities to develop in a consistent and creative manner.  

  • Protect teams from scope creep and maintain sprint goals.  

  • Remove impediments for teams.  

  • Perform the role of Scrum Master for multiple scrum teams.  

  • Keep appropriate stakeholders up-to-date with the latest information on high-priority incidents through timely and regular written and verbal communications.  

  • Identify and track internal and external dependencies.  

  • Ensure that appropriate Scrum artifacts are accurate and visible, including progress tracking through charts and views in Targetprocess.  

  • Measure, track and help teams improve metrics through continuous improvement.  

  • Maintain a high level of effective communication between onsite and remote teams. 

Qualifications

  • 2 – 3 years of experience in Scrum Master role on Scrum and Kanban teams. 

  • Certified Scrum Master or similar certification. 

  • Experience with Product delivery-focused organizations.  

  • Experience with managing projects including Data Engineering, Data Science, and Software Delivery.  

  • Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle. 

  • Knowledge of Agile and other software development techniques like: User Stories, Continuous Integration, TDD, Continuous Testing, Automated Testing, and Agile Games. 

  • Demonstrated excellence in leadership and ability to create collaborative, productive teams.  

  • Familiarity with tools like JIRA, Rally, Targetprocess for managing projects.  

  • Amazon Web Services or other cloud infrastructure knowledge.  

  • Experience with fostering growth in agile organizations.  

  • Ability to communicate, negotiate and plan work across dependent teams or departments clearly. 

  • Experience building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, judgment, with an emphasis on healing and problem solving. 

  • Accepts and acts on constructive criticism while being a careful listener that uses that ability to connect closely with team members. 

  • Honesty / Integrity – Does not cut corners ethically. Earns trust and maintains confidence. Does what is right, not just what is politically expedient. Speaks plainly and truthfully. 

  • Ability to work independently, make informed decisions, and ask for guidance where needed. 

  • Ability to understand both business and technical needs to facilitate the delivery of high-quality products.
