Verivest is disrupting traditional and crowdfunded real estate investing. We are on a mission to bring transparency and accountability to middle market real estate to increase the speed of trust between real estate sponsors and investors. Our platform provides a sponsor directory connecting accredited investors with real estate sponsors across the US, as well as a range of integrated end-to-end back-office services benefiting both parties, including track record verification, active investment financial monitoring, fund and syndication bookkeeping and accounting, investor servicing, investor portal, tax return and K-1 preparation, and more.
We are seeking a Fund Controller to join our high performing Accounting team. You will manage a team of skills Fund and Senior Fund Accountants, coaching and providing technical review of their work. In addition, you will oversee a portfolio of clients, managing key relationships and preparing financial statements and capital account reconciliations for a variety of entity types. Responsibilities
- Manage a team of high performing Fund and Senior Fund Accountants.
- Perform daily accounting tasks in accordance with GAAP, including cash entry and maintenance of supporting schedules and investor records.
- Prepare and review financial statements for a variety of entity types.
- Prepare capital account reconciliations, and complete investor reporting functions on a monthly/quarterly basis.
- Review work prepared by Fund Accountants and providing ongoing coaching and feedback.
- Cultivate and manage effective relationships with clients.
- Interface with internal and external audit and tax preparers at year-end.
- Collaborate with Delivery, Client Success and Tax teams to streamline process and ensure service excellence.
- Additional responsibilities as directed for the success of the team and the Company.
Qualifications and Skills
- BS/BA in Accounting is required.
- 5 years of accounting experience, with experience in fund accounting or real estate highly desirable.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience in managing a team a plus!
- Demonstrated ability to consult and develop relationships with clients.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Curiosity, with a desire to master new ideas and skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong proficiency using a variety of technology systems and the ability to learn new ones quickly.
