What you’ll be doing...
The Director of IT Network Planning & Engineering will be responsible for leading all Architecture & Design Planning for the global and enterprise IT network infrastructure, strategy, end to end life cycle implementation and delivery at scale with focus on transforming the VZ Core, and Connect networks serving all of Verizon. Architecture & Design Planning for all Enterprise Unified Communications technology and delivery.
Drive technical strategy for Global Network & Unified Communication by providing technology direction and codevelopment with vendors; includes planning and architecture for Data Centers, 4000 Campus locations (Retail & Admin Sites), Cloud Providers, SaaS Providers, Remote Access (Employee & Contact Center)and all virtual private networks to Business Partner and application networking for the enterprise.
Responsible for helping to design, build, transform and operate Verizon’s Enterprise IT Global network. These services enable seamless delivery of a frictionless, convenient digital experience and securely connect to Verizon’s customers & business partners wherever they are in the world. As the Network Planning Director, the new executive will focus on the future state of global networks while also ensuring stability, sustained operational excellence and improved time to market, while effectively managing risk and maintaining Best-in-Class ratings. In addition, she/he will lead and drive strategy to restore and recover complex critical services, reduce risks and improve controls in the network area.
Drive the strategic direction of the Network Services to become a more innovative, modernized, and agile organization capable of anticipating and driving a digital, cloud-first agenda
Lead the architecture, engineering, and operations for the network infrastructure that is highly resilient, secure, elastic, scalable and programmable to support the successful transport of applications and data for Verizon’s lines of business, business partners, and customers
Oversee a scope of services to include WAN and LAN connectivity, switching, routing, load balancing, firewall, proxy, access and authentication, malware protection, tools/telemetry, network software development and domain name system (DNS)/Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DCHP)/IP address management
What we’re looking for...
Experience leading high performance team and driving technical and operational transformation initiatives
Experience developing and executing strategies to improve system and/or network reliability
Development of large scale Network solutions impacting multiple organizations leveraging internal teams and multiple vendors globally and impacts to the teams in multiple organizations
Experience building scalable and reliable software solutions to satisfy diverse set of requirement from multiple BUs
Experience leading quality improvement initiatives
Passion for driving performance improvements and technology-led change in a fast paced and complex IT environment

Network Depth: Core competency in designing, building and operating global data networks. WAN and LAN, switching, routing, load balancing, WIFI, tools/telemetry, network software development and domain name system (DNS)/Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DCHP)/IP address management.
Industry Focus: High availability, 100% uptime, 24x7x365 critical availability environments. Service Provider services or correlated industry.
Security: Network experience inclusive of defensive Perimeter Security and Threat Prevention controls. Firewall, proxy, access and authentication, malware protection. Network encryption and authentication depth.
Size and Scope: Success leading highly technical teams resources and supporting a complex global footprint from multiple locations.
Architect and Engineer: More than an operator. Proven technical architect with the ability to provide the vision and leadership to deliver and innovative, modernized, and agile organization.
Manages Complexity: Works effectively in a complex environment (e.g., environment spanning multiple functions, shifts, platforms, geographies) and has experience in driving and realizing complex/ full end to end solutions and how decision/design impacts business capabilities and technology delivery
Communicates and influences: Must be able to communicate to and influence all levels of the organization
Demonstrates Business Acumen: Must possess the ability to quickly assess situations and make decisions that will benefit the organization and stabilize the infrastructure behind it

Job Qualifications
Ability to work both independently and as a team member with personnel at all levels in the organizational hierarchy
Strong relationship development and management with; ability to navigate the complexities of gaining buy-in, building consensus and resolving conflicts in a large, global, distributed organization; ability to work across functions and organizational lines/levels
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Information Systems, or related field. Accelerated degree preferred.
Must have demonstrated experience in partnering with Business and IT teams at multiple levels to drive alignment and delivery of complex problems.
Ability to identify opportunities, facilitate workout sessions to ideate and come up with joint cross functional solutions to improve digital experiences and streamline customer and employee processes.
Excellent communication and presentation skills to express complex concepts effectively.
10 years of relevant project and program delivery experience. Network Administration or Engineering background preferred.
10 years of delivery experience in highly available and Network and services.
10 years of technology leadership, including solid understanding of technology selection, architecture, and full stack implementation.
10 years of direct people management experience, including leadership of diverse global teams. Experience leading senior talent, mentoring and coaching.
10 years of experience in troubleshooting and supporting mission critical 24X7 production Neworks, lead real-time high stake risk mitigation plan and drive timely decisions.
