What you’ll be doing...
As the emergency/event management discipline has evolved over the last 20 years, map-based technologies have become integral, standard tools for emergency managers. Business Continuity and Event Management (BCEM) requires the development and system administration of a Geographic Information System (GIS) toolset to provide situational awareness, risk analysis and statistical metrics both internal and external to Verizon. You'll be building and managing the toolset will provide an enterprise-level Verizon common operating picture for the increasing frequency, scope, and scale of disasters and crises.
- Recommend, source and implement hardware, middleware, software, and database components for the purpose of developing and maintaining enterprise-level common operating picture dashboards and situational analysis tools especially as it relates to the ESRI product suite.
- Use experience and education with data integration though writing APIs (SOAP and/or REST) using one or more of the following languages or packages: Python, Java, JSON/GeoJSON, PHP, C#, XML, or SDKs.
- Integrate and automate data workflows of disparate data sources with the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) technology stack.
- Develop customized ESRI/ArcGIS JavaScript and Python API web applications, web services, mobile, and enterprise solutions.
- Configure, write and tune database elements using a variety of database tools, especially geospatial database components.
- Develop geoprocessing techniques and perform GIS ETL functions.
- Install, configure and maintain operating hardware and software.
- Analyze and resolve problems associated with servers, hardware and software.
- Maintain on-call posture as necessary.
- Conduct performance, unit, system, integration, and quality assurance testing of applications. Upgrades and migrates existing applications/services to current version/systems architecture.
- Compliance with Verizon’s information security and data/systems processes.
- Provide end-user support and create support documentation.
- Work closely with customers and stakeholders to create and define user stories, use cases, and pain points associated with existing manual processes and future-state automation.
- Interface with technical peers and stakeholders to integrate, test, and connect data streams.
- Utilize agile methodologies and scrum principles when working with teams.
- Recommend, facilitate and monitor tests and methods & procedures.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have:
- Masters in Computer Science or Information Systems.
- Advanced GIS degree or certificate.
- Ten or more years of experience.
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Broad and deep hands-on experience with ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Portal, ArcGIS APIs.
- Experience writing Python and JavaScript.
- JSON/GeoJSON experience.
- Experience with SQL Server, Oracle (Oracle Geo).
- Ability work collaboratively with existing team members to meet team goals.
- Ability to work independently with time management skills.
- Documentation writing experience.
- Ruby, PHP, C#, XML, or SDK experience.
- DBA level experience with SQL Server or Oracle.
- Experience with Agile Scrum methodologies, including Product Owner.
- Experience fostering teams in a matrix environment (i.e. no direct reports).
- Willingness to travel.
