What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Hand position at Vertex Resource Group?
OVERVIEW
Vertex is currently accepting applications for full-time or part-time Shop Hands for our Grande Prairie, AB location. The successful candidate will be responsible for cleaning trailer and providing general assistance to the mechanics and drivers in the shop.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma
- Ability to communicate well and perform physically demanding work
- Able to stand, climb, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs for extended periods of time
- Ability to take direction with assisting other employees in various tasks as requested
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License with clean driver’s abstract
- Prior experience as a labourer or shop hand would be considered an asset
- Valid Class 1 or willingness to pursue a Class 1 Driver’s license in considered an asset
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Primarily working in the yard washing trailers and trucks
- Help mechanics and drivers as needed
- Perform odd mechanical jobs with the assistance of a qualified individual
- Moving material in an organized fashion
- Handling materials within the shop and outdoors
- Operating of basic hand tools and powered hand tools
- Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment at all times
- Running for parts
- Other duties as required
