What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optometrist position at Vestra Miami?
OPTOMETRIST RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct eye exams using optometric equipment and general diagnostic interpretation.
- Perform thorough routine eye inspections.
- Identify the patient’s visual alertness, field of vision, and hand-eye coordination.
- Diagnose sight problems and treat ocular disease.
- Prescribe, fit, and adjust eyeglasses, conduct lenses, other vision aids and medications.
- Maintain accurate medical files for all patients.
- Promote eye health by teaching patients about proper eye care techniques.
- Recommend appropriate patient follow-up and care options.
- Answer questions and provide advice to patients regarding vision and optical issues.
- Identify and assess eye defects and diseases such as diabetes and liver failure.
- Record all diagnosis and treatment plans including transfers and therapeutic prescriptions.
· Direct staff and assist in the development of the overall practice.
OPTOMETRIST QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
· In-depth knowledge of general principals of optometry, using best practice for the diagnosis and eye-related disorders, conditions, and treatment.
· Applied understanding of general principles of optometry and best practices for the diagnosis and treatment of eye-related disorders and conditions
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to patients of diverse backgrounds.
· Excellent customer service skills.
· Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
· General computer proficiency
· Demonstrated problem solving skills and multitasking ability.
· Maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality of patient medical information, team member and employer confidentiality. Comply with all HIPAA regulations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry program.
- Active state optometry license.
- Valid CPR certificate.
- Two-plus years of Optometrist experience preferred.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- In-depth knowledge of eye-related disorders and conditions.
- Customer service oriented with excellent analytical skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $180,000.00 - $220,000.00 per year
