What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinarian position at Vet At Your Door, P.C.?
About us
Vet At Your Door, P.C. is a privately owned house call veterinary practice dedicated to providing low-stress, high-quality, compassionate veterinary care, all in the comfort of home. Our services include wellness visits, sick visits, hospice care, acupuncture, and euthanasia. We've been in business since 2015 and are looking for a doctor to see appointments in our most southern service area - Wells to Portland.
Introducing a job where you can practice great veterinary medicine, use your home as your home-base, make a good living, and develop your own schedule that works for you!
We would give you everything you need, including a dynamite tech (if you know one, even better) AND a seasoned receptionist dedicated to you. You would travel between clients’ homes and really get to know the animals and their owners in the comfort of home. Instead of persistently full exam rooms and a triple-booked schedule, you would see 8-10 clients on a busy day, and still make a great living. There is time to focus. There is time to connect. And there is time and space to enjoy your job. And the time you’re off - You. Are. Off.
Having the “awesome” factor is critical to our hiring practice. Then, we figure out how to build a house call practice around YOU!
So what does awesome mean to us? A veterinarian who:
- Is an animal-person, yes, but also a people-person.
- Finds meaning in close client relationships, especially towards the end of an animal’s life.
- Wants to practice great medicine.
- Embraces technology, as we are completely virtual and use technology to make communication seamless.
- Likes to be part of a bigger team but is also ok being self-directed.
- Makes good decisions.
- Is a stickler for customer service / really cares about doing a good job.
Requirements? Besides being your wonderful self, a dependable, clean car that you like to drive (we reimburse mileage), and residence in the southern Maine area. We are looking for someone to work 4-5 weekdays - the hours are your choice. We require that our staff is fully vaccinated for COVID-19, as we enter a lot of elderly and immunocompromised homes.
Notes about the job: Appointment-wise, 15% of them are home euthanasias, 15% hospice / QOL evaluations, 40% wellness visits, and 30% medical work ups and management. We are looking for someone who loves internal medicine but could take or leave surgery (we don’t do that in the field but have great relationships with other local practices that we refer surgeries, hospitalizations, and x-rays to). We have COVID protocols in place to keep everyone safe. We are looking for the right person for anywhere between 3-5 days - it's up to you! There are NO WEEKENDS and we usually have 3/4 of our day be appointments, the other 1/4 doing paperwork/callbacks, etc.
Pay/Benefits: Competitive pro-sal, mileage reimbursement, health / vision / dental if you work more than 32 hours per week, 3% match SIMPLE IRA, 2 weeks PTO that extends the longer you work with us, CE allowance, sweet VAYD swag, and a sustainable schedule that we STICK to and FIGHT for.
Also, no need to formally apply with a cover letter and resume - just send a message and we can chat first if you'd like! Go to www.vetatyourdoor.com/jobs#housecallvet-kb for more info!
Thanks, Deirdre Frey, VMD
