This position is assigned to the Women Veteran's Health Program at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Alexandria, Louisiana. The Program Assistant functions as a program/administrative assistant and care facilitator/coordinator, under the administrative supervision of the Women Veterans Program Manager.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-6) in Federal Service that has given you the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of a Program Assistant GS-7. Specialized experience includes ALL of the following: experience performing office support work in a medical setting; utilizing computer software to manage data collection, retrieve and tabulate statistics; developing new data collection programs; providing technical assistance to management; formatting and distributing minutes, memos, and hospital bulletins; and generating reports. NOTE: Your experience must be fully documented in your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.

Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
NOTE: This is a TERM appointment (not-to-exceed 2 years). Term appointments are non-status, nonpermanent appointments of limited duration (more than 1 year but not more than 4). Term employees are eligible to earn leave and generally have the same benefits as permanent employees including health and life insurance, within-grade increases and Federal Employees Retirement System and Thrift Savings Plan coverage. Term appointments may be extended without further competition (up to the 4 year maximum). The appointment to a Term position does not confer eligibility for promotion or reassignment to other positions or the ability to be non-competitively converted to permanent employment.

Responsibilities:
***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION***Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Prepares briefs for all Designated Women's Health Providers (DWHP) and leadership;
- Extracts, analyzes, and organizes data into meaningful reports on gender-specific cancer prevention services and gender-specific disparities (e.g., cardiovascular disease or diabetes control) in the clinical health status of women Veterans to impact gaps in services;
- Tracks clinical endpoints specific to Women Veterans Comprehensive Care;
- Manages data streaming for patient notification of due or past due gender specific cancer screening (e.g., breast and cervical cancer) and monitors the timeliness of provider notification of test results;
- Produces reports of gender-specific screening across all teams reflecting patient level needs as well as provider quality and productivity;
- Conducts research, analyzes complex data sets, identifies performance trends, and prepares reports;
- Work closely with other departments and women's health liaisons across the health care system including coordination of outsourced healthcare;
- Tracks patient concerns, satisfaction, and trust;
- Develops data reports to support business planning for expansion and operations;
- Evaluates reports from External Peer Review and Quality Management on concurrence with Office of Inspector General and Joint Commission regulatory practices;
- Makes recommendations to women's health leadership, logistics, and facility planning for alignment with the Women's Health dignity, security, and privacy policies;
- Develops and presents recommendations for improving clinical data-management methods, follow-up procedures, and timely compliance with regulatory guidelines;
- Collaborates with technical, clinical, and administrative staff to develop system requirements while understanding system capabilities and limitations;
- Collaborates with Health Systems Specialist to develop projects for patient notification, needs assessments, and specialized women's health services;
- Develops data tracking and prepares reports for the women's health leadership regarding community outreach, Veteran Service Organizations for Women, and other community engagement initiatives;
- Develops and/or oversees databases related to patient management systems, and actively participates in or leads the development of Women's Health clinical decision-support systems;
- Provides advice and guidance to assist in revisions of operational procedures and clinical processes affecting the Women's Health Program;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
