We are seeking a new Controller to lead our accounting team. This key leadership role will report to the VP of Finance and Accounting and lead all areas of the controllership function including, GL accounting, A/P, fixed assets, wellness plan reporting, and cash management. The person for this role will be hands-on in leading and developing a best-in-class Accounting team and driving process improvements and efficiencies to support a growing business.
This position is hybrid, with three days a week in our Wilson, NC office.

Duties
- Direct oversight of day-to-day and monthly transactions and accounting operations, including accounts payable, revenue reporting, proper wellness plan reporting, bank reconciliations, payroll entries, fixed assets, and other various general ledger journal entries.
- Oversee all month end and year end close processes and provide quarterly financials required by lenders.
- Present accurate and timely financial statements, with ability to discuss exceptions to the various targets.
- Lead the annual external financial audit and maintain strong relationships with the external audit team.
- Partner with external tax advisors to support quarterly tax calculations.
- Support cash flow management and debt covenant compliance and reporting.
- Identify and implement systems, tools, and process changes to streamline the work of the accounting function and reduce time to close.
- Partner with key business stakeholders to support business needs.
- Assist with creating and implementing a new internal controls process for key risk areas.
- Special Projects as needed and assigned by VP of Finance and Accounting and/or CEO.
- Lead a high-performing Accounting team, ensuring operational excellence
- Establish annual goals and objectives for each direct report and manage performance through regular performance management and evaluations.
- Recruit and hire accounting staff and coordinate training programs for both new and existing staff.

- Must be very organized, detail-oriented and possess exceptional time management skills.
- Highly motivated, self-starter who manages projects end-to-end and has a demonstrated track record of getting results, organizing and prioritizing deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task several important priorities simultaneously
- Multi-location healthcare or retail experience a plus
- Deep knowledge of enterprise accounting software
- Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree required and Master’s degree preferred.
- CPA preferred, but not required.
- Minimum eight progressive years of experience required, and four to six years of experience managing accounting teams.
- Must be able to able to remain in a stationary position most of the workday working on a computer.
- The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Occasional bending, stooping and walking.
