ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB’s Wethersfield, CT office is seeking an entry-level Traffic Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Ability to think independently and manage time on tasks
- Willing to learn and experience out of box engineering aspects of the job
- Work under a mid-level engineer on a variety of projects and tasks
- Work with a team of professionals in a variety of transportation-related areas
- Assist with traffic signal design tasks
- Complete field data collection tasks
- Assist in the preparation of various components of traffic impact, corridor, planning, and intersection improvement studies
- Assist with the research and preparation of reports
- Work with a team on design concepts, roadway improvements, and roundabout design
Skills and Attributes
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Team oriented with strong capability to work independently
- Experience in transportation analysis software including Synchro
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation preferred
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office
- Motivated to learn and be mentored
- Ability to think out of the box
Qualifications
- BS in Civil Engineering
- 0-1 years of civil/transportation engineering and planning experience, whether through coursework or professional experience (may include co-op/internship experience)
