ABOUT THE POSITION
Senior Noise and Air Consultant
In this role, you will have the opportunity to manage projects, supervise and oversee work conducted by others on our noise and air quality team, conduct air quality and noise studies for a wide range of projects, prepare technical reports, represent VHB at meetings with key clients, and support public outreach efforts to communicate study findings. This position will include working with Senior VHB leadership to shape and build the air and noise practice at VHB.
Responsibilities:
- Lead air and noise studies for a wide range of clients across the transportation, energy, and private development markets
- Utilize a wide range of technical tools such as GIS, CAD, Cadna-A, FHWA’s Traffic Noise Model, FHWA’s Roadway Construction Noise Model, FTA/FRA Noise and Vibration Guidance modeling and FAA Aviation Environmental Design Tool, Matlab and spreadsheets, MOVES, AERMOD CAL3QHCR, etc.
- Expertise in mobile and stationary source modeling and conformity
- Prepare technical reports on study findings and review technical writing from other team members
- Present at public meetings
- Support client relationship, business development and marketing activities

- Analyze noise and vibration using models such as Cadna-A, FHWA’s Traffic Noise Model, FHWA’s Roadway Construction Noise Model, FTA/FRA Noise and Vibration Guidance modeling and FAA Aviation Environmental Design Tool
- Utilize a wide range of technical tools such as Cadna-A, GIS, CAD, Matlab and spreadsheets
- Prepare technical reports on study findings and review technical writing from other team members
- Present at public meetings
- Support client relationship, business development and marketing activities
Skills & Abilities
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong technical capabilities in noise consulting
- Self-motivated
- Team leadership qualities
- Ability to manage multiple projects
Qualifications
- BS in engineering, acoustics, transportation, math, physics, environmental science, or related field (engineering preferred)
- 10 years of professional noise consulting experience
