The Inventory Control Supervisor will support the VP of Quality Assurance through various administrative and clerical responsibilities. They include; basic inventory management, inventory analysis, implementation and management of 5S practices as well as support in transformation of the current production practices to value stream. The Inventory Control Supervisor will have the Receiving and Parts Requisition departments, including all employees, reporting directly to them. The Inventory Control Supervisor will also have responsibility for inventory requisition for the Wood/Foam department directly.
Examples of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directly and indirectly support all Lean initiatives
- Participate and eventually lead kaizen events
- Participate in the development of the Vias Lean strategy and implement, support and sustain Lean best practices
- Train staff on Lean methodologies
- Compare policies, procedures and practices to industry best practices
- Basic inventory management
- Identify key initiatives for improving planning, structure and accountability
- Identify new sustainability initiatives
- Facilitate year-end physical inventory
- Help to improve sustainability performance
- Implementation and management of 5S practices on the production floor and raw goods warehouse
- Review and analyze daily and weekly inventory adjustments
- Develop, maintain and evaluate queries and reports
- Identity opportunities for improvement
- Reduce the costs associated with inventory inaccuracies
- Improve efficiency and reduce waste in current production practices
- Work on product flow designs that increase efficiencies to achieve productivity standards including
- Direct supervision of up to 10 employees with indirect supervision of up to 75 employees
- Supports VP of Production in production and inventory employee management
- Maintains employee time and attendance using current time management software for the Receiving and Parts Requisition departments.
Work Environment:
- A combination of both a typical office environment and a typical production area in an environment that contains dust, odors, moderate level noise, and temperature & ventilation variations while wearing safety glasses
Qualifications
Desired Education and Skills:
- Bachelors Degree in related field preferred.
- 2+ years of Asset and Inventory Management experience is required
- Experience in implementation and management of 5S practices
- 2+ years of experience with parts requisition and use of best practices
- 3+ years of supervisory experience
- Experience creating and maintaining a variety of documents using Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience working at VIA Seating combined with a willingness to learn a new skills set will be considered as commensurate with any of the above qualifications for any internal transfers.
Physical Demands:
- Vision, hearing and speaking to meet performance standard
- Required to sit, stand and walk during the course of a day. Must talk and listen both in person and via telephone, use keyboard and mouse to navigate software programs.
- The ability to safely lift and carry up to 15 pounds on a regular basis and up to 35 pounds on an occasional basis
- Regularly going into the production area and donning protective gear as required.
