The Firmware Engineer for this role will work directly with the Electrical Engineering team to make continuous improvements to our embedded devices. At Viant Medical your efforts will truly make a difference in the lives of people with symptoms that range from post-surgical pain to degenerative neurological diseases. At the Design and Development facility in Fremont, we have a group of employees who are passionate about what they do. PURPOSE: We produce medical devices that save and enhance lives! The Firmware Engineer will designing the intelligence behind our devices. Making them smaller, and more efficient while adding features to improve the patient experience  INNOVATION: Our devices have BLE connectivity to smart phones and tablets, and push the limits of one can be done in such a small form factor. We currently have projects for at least three life changing devices that the Firmware Engineer could contribute to. Some of the projects we work on have received breakthrough device designation from the FDA. GROWTH: Due to the popularity of our platform, we are experiencing rapid growth. Instead of turning down projects from potential customers, we are looking to expand our firmware team. There is ample room for growth in the company for qualified applicant. MISSION: We partner and innovate with our customers to provide the highest quality, life enhancing medical devices in the world.    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Design and test of the firmware for class II and Class III medical devices, primarily using C language for embedded devices. Create Documentation to Support FDA and CE submissions Manage projects through design evaluation, and documentation/reporting phases Work closely with vendors to establish and document product requirements Carefully test and optimize circuitry and firmware for optimization of device stability, communication, and battery life. Perform product verification and validation testing and documentation as required per the Viant quality system Work collaboratively with engineering team, including mechanical engineers, software developers, electrical engineers, product development engineers as well as the customers and the clinical team to develop quality medical devices. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or similar 2-5 years of experience designing firmware for embedded systems preferred Ability to read schematic and design firmware from concept to final product with minimal supervision Nice to have: Design of class II-III medical device per ISO 13485 Neural modulation systems design, ISO 14708 Experience working Nordic Chipset H-Bridge using Nordic micro and FPGA Ability to read and understand electrical schematics Android and/or iOS Programming experience Programming in C, C , C# Objected oriented programming, LabVIEW Python Experience Experience with wireless communication such as BLE, battery powered systems, and basic analog electronics Low power Bluetooth communication for implant Ability to debug/test circuits, including skill at soldering and use of standard electrical equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers Cardiac rhythm management systems design IEC 62304 Medical Device Software - Software Life Cycle Processes Familiarity with PCB design tools such as Altium or Eagle Familiarity with SolidWorks desirable Familiarity with medical device development and quality systems is desirable Strong written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams Location:Onsite in Fremont, CA. Flexibility for occasional remote work per manager discretion.Pay Range: We offer market competitive compensation. Potential salary range for this role is $100,000-$150,000 per year. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. #INDHP
