At ViaQuest Psychiatric & Behavioral Solutions, our RN Trainers provide support and services to individuals with developmental disabilities, through educating unlicensed staff to perform medication administration and 13 health related activities, delegation of nurse authority, oversite of medication errors and corrective interventions, provide expertise in medication administration per state curriculum and Ohio Administrative Code. Responsibilities may include:
- Coordinate training schedule with needs of regional sites to meet staffing and compliance needs with the training and education of the direct care staff.
- Maintains pre and post training records.
- Collects data and reports trends
- Determines if trainees meet the requirements set by DODD rules to be certified or continue their certification.
- Provides expertise and oversight on delegation of nurse authority, Individual Specific Training, staff observation of clinical skills and determination if meets requirements to administer medications.
- Provides expertise, oversight and interventions of significate medication related errors occur.
- Provide insight about DODD laws/rules and responds to questions about Medication Administration in a residential setting.
- Computer Skills, electronic documentation, Excel, Word, Outlook, Zoom, and other software.
- Enters class participants who successfully passed training requirements into the state database (MAIS) upon completion of the class.
- Provide direct nursing services in crisis situations.
- Attend team meetings and contributes ideas concerning planning, quality improvement, department needs.
- Monitor emails and responds to questions and concerns
- Create and submit weekly critical data as requested
- Ability to travel to various training sites within ViaQuest’ regions and training centers
Requirements for this position include:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- RN License
- A minimum of 3 years of nursing experience with 18 months in the field of developmental disabilities.
- RN Trainer certification desired but will assist with obtaining certification though DODD
- RN Educator experience is preferred with adult learners in groups and for staff development
- Valid driver's license, car insurance and reliable transportation.
- Willingness to travel throughout assigned service area.
- CPR or Course can be provided during training.
