What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler Openings - 2nd shift position at VIBRACOUSTIC?
2ND SHIFT MATERIAL HANDLER: Monday-Friday 3p-11p
The material handler is responsible for the movement of raw materials, supplies and finished goods to and from the production cell on a timely basis. Additionally, is responsible for garbage disposal, cardboard recycling, and minor pallet repair.
- Orders raw materials and supplies from the Warehouse to ensure stock needed for the shift is on hand.
- Upon delivery of warehouse order, breaks down and/or sorts order and puts inventory away in designated locations within 30 minutes of delivery to avoid unnecessary clutter and safety hazards. Cleans receiving dock area after each use.
- Responsible for the timely loading and unloading of post-cure ovens by monitoring cells for full pallets, transferring full pallets to the oven, delivery of a fresh pallet, unpacking and delivery of product to finished goods, assembly or containment, and accurate completion of oven inventory paperwork.
- Stocks lines as needed throughout the day with inserts.
- May need to check sorter boxes.
- Empties trash and processes cardboard for recycling as needed throughout the day; typically at least twice a shift in an effort to keep the work areas neat. Ensures trash containers are properly labeled with the Line/Cell Identification information and in the proper spot within the cell. Returns misplaced containers to their proper line.
- Manages plastic dunnage and tote inventory, repair, transfer and/or disposal.
- Repairs pallets as needed; properly disposes of pallets that are in poor or unsafe condition.
- Operates pallet jackets and forklifts as needed throughout the day in compliance with company and safety guidelines. Must be continually aware of people and other obstacles in the areas of operation and use caution horns to make others aware of your presence. Unsafe operation of this equipment including but not limited to lifting a load over people, leaving a load in the raised position, misuse or reckless behavior will result in the revocation of the incumbent’s forklift certification and removal from the material handler position.
- Ensures materials delivered to or stored in any cell location does not block aisles, electrical panels, fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, fire blanket or spill kit access, or other areas designated as non-storage areas by tape, paint and/or label.
- May provide backup support for production personnel or to production operations as necessary.
- Performs all other duties as may be assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED preferred. Previous manufacturing and inspection experience preferred. Requires good dexterity and vision to perform tasks. Computer skills and prior experience using scanners strongly preferred. Forklifts, pallet jacks, pallets, scanners, computer and copier are some of the equipment typically used. Prior experience operating standing and sitting forklifts requirement; current/prior forklift certification strongly preferred. DOT license to operate company truck is desired.
