What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Copy position at Victoria's Secret?
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Manager of Copy is responsible for naming products and writing positioning copy for the Victoria’s Secret Beauty brand, with an emphasis on concepting and storytelling. The Manager of Copy will have a comprehensive understanding of the target customer, the Victoria’s Secret brand and be passionate about the beauty world.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create compelling, creative, brand-right beauty product copy (i.e., product and shade naming; copy for packaging)
- Support the voice of the brand through writing copy for public relations, press and education materials, plus conceptual storytelling work and various other internal and external projects to support product development and launches
- Partner with merchant team to understand product and business point of view; help develop positioning and creative concepts for new products and collections
- Work closely with design and product innovation partners to create comprehensive creative that amplifies the power of the product story
- Proof artwork with great attention to accuracy and detail
- Work with regulatory and legal teams to secure proper clearances
- Track copy trends throughout the market and within culture; serve as language expert
- Conduct regular store visits to ensure familiarity with the business and to maintain customer intimacy
- Stay relevant with fashion trends and present themes and concepts to teams
QUALIFICATIONS/CAPABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism/Communications/Marketing or equivalent field
- 7 years’ experience in fashion, beauty, pop culture writing for a retailer, brand, magazine, website, or agency; beauty experience a plus
- Ability to translate established marketing strategies into clear, concise, and communicative creative, brand-right concepts and product creative
- Strong collaboration and teamwork orientation; ability to work cross-functionally with other internal departments toward the development of successful campaigns
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness
- Ability to meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment
- Open-minded, flexible, patient and team focused
