What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Victory Cruise Lines?
Our Controller position is best filled by someone who is an energetic, qualified accountant with a minimum of 5 years equal experience within the hospitality industry (hotels, resorts or cruise line.) We're a dynamic and growing company that values innovation, collaboration, and a dash of fun. We're looking for a Controller who isn't just good with numbers but is also passionate about driving financial success.
This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining all of the necessary accounting policies and procedures and internal controls required to ensure timely and accurate financial information, while fully safe-guarding the company’s assets at all times. The Controller must possess strong accounting skills as well as the ability to lead, collaborate and mentor staff from all levels in the organization to create and maintain a corporate culture of fiscal accountability.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Finance/Accounting or related
• CPA preferred
Skills & Abilities:
- Advanced skills in QuickBooks Pro/Premiere, Excel and Microsoft Applications
- Familiarity with GAAP
- Familiarity with Information Technologies as they relate to systems supporting; Reservations, Advance Deposits, General Ledger, Financial Statements, Sales/Receipts/Receivables, Purchasing/Receiving/Inventory/Disbursements, Accounts Payable, Trip Insurance, Time & Attendance, Payroll and Fixed Assets
- Strong written, verbal and mathematical skills
- Knowledge and/or the ability to learn and develop systems to adhere to government compliance regulations
- An ability to meet tight deadlines on a consistent basis
Experience:
• 5-7 years of experience in a Controller position
• Travel/tourism, hospitality and/or cruise industry experience strongly desired
