MORTGAGE LOAN UNDERWRITER

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment to play an integral role in our Underwriting department. In this role, you will contribute to the organization's profitability by underwriting loans to ensure borrowers' ability repay the mortgage loan.

These skills will be used to:

• Responsible for underwriting conventional, FHA, USDA, and VA loans to ensure borrowers’ ability to repay the mortgage loan.
• Completes thorough analysis of mortgage loan files to determine compliance with agency, company and investor guidelines, as well as federal regulations.
• Responsible for deciding to approve or deny client’s mortgage loans according to relevant analysis and information provided on the loan applications.
• Utilizes training materials, reference tools and other resources to thoroughly understand all relevant laws and guidelines.
• Maintains exceptional customer service and responds to audits and post-closing issues in a timely manner.
• Provides mentorship to the Processing staff on underwriting deficiencies and calculation errors.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience underwriting with strong credit, collateral and risk analysis background.
• Demonstrates a solid understanding of mortgage processing, underwriting and closing procedures.
• Strong knowledge of conventional and government lending guidelines, as well as an understanding of Federal Regulations governing Real Estate Lending.
• Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Business Administration or related field is preferred.
