What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Supervisor position at Victory?
This Supervisor position is for sports/education camps that are held during school breaks, ideal for students and teachers. Supervisors work approximately 30 hours per week.
The Supervisor has an important job - not only is the Supervisor responsible for the physical and educational well-being of students, they also play a vital role in connecting with parents and coordinating with staff. Supervisors should be well rounded in classroom management and Victory program procedures. In addition to helping students develop athletically, they are also responsible for helping the student to develop socially, emotionally, and academically. Supervisors need to be patient and authoritative, empathetic, and regimented. The best Supervisors are natural managers who lead by example. They are physically fit, organized, talented, and highly motivated - with a can-do disposition that prompts students to participate and perform above their own expectation levels.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Daily on-site presence to oversee the guidance, support and coordination of students, parents and staff.
- Communicate overall camp necessities with Victory staff and leadership on a regular basis.
- Hold one-on-one conferences with Victory leadership to keep them informed of qualitative and quantitative camp data on a daily / weekly basis to track to meet athletic, social, emotional, and academic goals.
- On occasion, meet with parents/guardians to discuss student progress, remedial issues, behavior problems, and help students achieve their individual goals.
- Follow lesson plans developed by Victory Administration.
- Support the development of group and teamwork, leadership, anti-bullying, etc. to assist students in successful transition socially, emotionally, and academically.
- Arrive on time every day that you are scheduled, prepare for activity and for kids' arrival.
- Document hours on your cell phone via Victory Administration's Quickbooks time app.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Equivalent Experience (preferably in Education or Sports/Exercise)
- State issued teaching certificate or license preferred, but not required.
- Comfortable speaking and directing large groups.
- Able to explain complex procedures in simple terms.
- Ability to manage spontaneous changes and events.
- Well-versed in all Victory programming procedures.
- Prepared to enthusiastically greet students, parents and staff on a daily basis.
- Education oriented, with a strong sense of fair play and inclination against favoritism.
- Able to teach and coach diverse students with varied athletic interests and diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
