What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Set Up - 3rd Shift position at Viking Drill and Tool?
We are a premier tool manufacturer, dedicated to quality, consistency, service and value.
We are seeking a new Machine Set Up to join our team. Your role will be to Setup and operate grinding machines used in the manufacturer of premiere cutting tools, and to grind internal and external surfaces of metal work pieces to specifications.
You will work with our Machine Operators and Set Ups and report to our Shift Facilitator.
What You Will Do:
- Full time (40 hours/week), timely and consistent attendance
- Read blueprints and or job cards for product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts to be produced
- Install parts into machines necessary to insure proper function of machine process
- Set machine controls to specified grinding speeds, feed rates, and angle of wheels
- Verify dimensions of finished work piece for conformance to specifications
- Maintain efficient operations of all machines to ensure maximum productivity
- Assist in the operation of all machines
- Complete necessary paperwork and inventory input for maintaining proper documentation of operation
- Troubleshoot machinery
- Maintain clean, orderly and safe work environment
- Willingness to participate in various continual improvement efforts
- Training is provided
What You Will Bring:
Our ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of relevant experience and the following credentials/skills:
- High School or GED
- Available to work full time (40 hours/week) on 2nd shift, meeting attendance requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
