VILLAGE OF ROCKLAND
JOB DESCRIPTION
PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEE
General:
A. Under general supervision of the Village President
B. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all Village public works property buildings, streets, parks, sewer and water construction, repair and maintenance tasks.
C. Must be able to understand an apply verbal and written instructions.
D. Must understand and use safe working practices and avoid working hazards.
E. Must be courteous to public officials, employees, and the public.
F. On call for all emergencies in all departments.
G. Must possess a valid CDL license.
Streets and Park Maintenance:
A. Snow Plowing and Removal, including removal from hydrants
B. Repair Streets as needed. Maintain Alleys as needed
C. Haul Brush and Maintain Brush & Mulch Piles
D. Maintain and Operate All Village Vehicles and Equipment
E. Mow & Trim Parks, Vacant Lots, Ditches, and any other public land as needed. Spray for Weeds.
F. Maintain and Clean Shelter Houses, including Garbage Removal
G. Minor Building Repair and Maintenance, including furnaces.
H. Install Street Signs as Needed.
I. Assists in Preparing Streets and Park Budget.
J. All Other Duties as assigned.
Water Department
A. Current Water Operator Certification or willing to become certified
B. Maintain Operator Certification as required by the WI DNR.
C. Monthly Water Reports
D. Take Water Samples as required by DNR
E. Install and/or test water meters on demand. Maintain Accurate Records.
F. Clean and Maintain well houses daily.
G. Record Pumping Data Daily.
H. Monitor and Adjust Chlorine and Iron Levels in the System Daily.
I. Monitor Well Static and Pumping Levels
J. Maintain Pumps and Motors as required.
K. Flush Fire Hydrants and Perform Hydrant Maintenance as required.
L. Repair and Maintenance of Curb Stops.
M. Regularly Exercise Valves in the Water System
N. Locate and Mark Digger’s Hotline Requests in a Timely Manner.
O. Perform Cross Connection Inspections as Required by DNR.
P. Inspect Water Tower and Check Levels Daily
Wastewater Department
A. Current Sewer Operator Certification or Willing to Become Certified.
B. Maintain Operator Certification as required by the WI DNR.
C. Take Daily and Monthly Sewer Plant Readings
D. Check Influent Flow Daily and Keep Accurate Records
E. Waste Sludge and De-scum on a Daily Basis
F. Check all Pumps and Motors to ensure working properly on a Daily Basis
G. Lubricate and Grease Pumps and Motors Regularly, as required.
H. Keep Treatment Plant in a clean and orderly condition.
I. Clean and Inspect Lift Station Daily.
J. Exercise the Plant Generator Weekly.
K. Inspect and Maintain Manholes and Sewer Mains.
L. Keep Sewer Lines clean through operation of jetter truck. Use root cutter as needed
M. Haul Sludge to approved Field Sites.
N. Locate and Mark Digger’s Hotline Requests in a Timely Manner.
Salary and Benefits:
A. Salary to be set by the Village Board based on experience, ability and qualifications.
B. Paid Vacation and Sick Leave as adopted by the Village Board.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week

- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
- CDL driver: 1 year (Preferred)
