The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible and accountable for the care of a group of residents, exercising autonomy through independent decision making related to resident care issues and problems. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care in accordance with established standards and collaborates with and may direct other health care team members in providing total care to assigned residents.
About You (Education and Experience):
A Registered Nurse (RN) at Vincentian must meet the following minimum requirements:

Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in good standing or a Temporary Practice Permit required.

Current CPR certification preferred.

Appropriate clinical knowledge of nursing care, significant signs and symptoms of disease, sterile and aseptic techniques, nursing procedures and treatment, and developed skills to provide technical nursing care required.
- Previous experience as a Registered Nurse in long term care preferred.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will:
- Adhere to all facility and department work rules, policies and procedures.
- Evaluate residents’ needs, condition and care, and assist in developing nursing care plans for individual residents, including rehabilitative and restorative activities and instruction in self-help.
- Admit and onboard new residents.
- Check physician orders, transfer and pre-admission information. Review residents’ medical history and social history.
- Requisition and arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services as ordered by the physician within or outside of the facility. Order prescribed medications; requisition supplies and equipment.
- Perform supervisory duties as required.
- Forward diet orders to dietary department.
- Assemble residents’ charts; assure all permits, authorizations and releases and other required forms are attached.
- Transcribe physician’s orders to resident’s Medical Administration Record (MAR) and Treatment Administration Record (TAR) in resident record.
- Periodically review care plans with residents’ physician and nursing team.
- Maintain narcotic records, unit records, and perform charting duties.
- Onboard and supervise training of new nursing employees.
- Provide instruction and supervision to assigned employees.
- Assist other nursing staff in providing care to residents.
- Perform and/or supervise individualized personal care for residents in accordance with the established nursing care plan and within scope of licensure.
- Collect data, reports and records assessments for residents’ condition.
- Assist physicians with procedures and examinations.
- Participate in resident care conferences.
- Make referrals for spiritual and psychological needs to appropriate personnel.
- Perform, assign or supervise service duties and specific assignments such as cleaning instruments and equipment, collecting specimens, cleaning work areas and replacing supplies.
- Attend required continuing education programs and unit staff meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident and staff information.
- Anticipate and takes action to maintain a safe environment. Incorporate safety/risk management standards into daily work practices.
- Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor.
- Support the organization’s Code of Ethical Conduct and Compliance Program by timely reporting any actual or suspected compliance, fraud and abuse, ethics or policy violations.
