Prime & Provisions is seeking a Lead Host / Maître D that will serve as an ambassador of hospitality by ensuring our guests feel welcomed and appreciated at all times. The Lead Host / Maître D establishes and promotes our excellent service and high standards by tending to guests' needs and requests while controlling the flow of the restaurant by coordinating seating both for the floor and bar.
Candidates should have the ability to multi-task efficiently and maintain a positive and professional approach with team members and guests. Compensation for this role is a competitive hourly rate with room for growth. We're interested in a candidate that can work 34-40 hours weekly and has interest in a path towards hospitality management.
What You Will Do
- Make an excellent first impression for our guests by warmly greeting them with eye contact and a smile, informing them of wait times and seating options in a pleasant manner, and confidently escorting them to their table
- Maximize guest count by controlling the flow of guests in the restaurant and adjusting seating plans accordingly
- Answer and make telephone calls with enthusiasm and polish; Provide direction and resolution to all patron inquiries
- Become well-versed in our menu items in order to field questions and make recommendations with a personal touch that is unmatched
- Observe guests’ needs throughout their experience to ensure they receive high quality service; Make note of guest preferences and requests for future reference
- Control the appearance of the entryway and coat check area, making sure the area is presentable, clean, and organized
- Assist in the development of fellow hosts by modeling desired behaviors and coaching them on performance
- Create a lasting, positive impression by bidding guests a fond farewell upon their departure and extending a sincere invitation for their return
- Additional duties as required
What You Need to Have
- 2 years experience as a host or similar role; experience in a fine dining establishment and/or
high-volume restaurant preferred - Excellent working knowledge of booking systems and strategies; experience with Open Table preferred
- Ability to carry on a pleasant conversation with guests without sounding scripted or intrusive
- Ability to maintain composure under periods of high stress and high volume
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
- A passion for quality and respect for team members and guests
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to move, bend, lift, carry, push, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without
assistance; Stand or Walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift
