Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required and/or completion of training in Medical Technology required.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in Microbiology. 
• MT(ASCP)Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Detects and corrects errors in tests and reports.
• Accepts assigned cross-training to other clinical departments and works in other clinical departments as assigned.
• Is able to perform all tests within clinical department accurately and precisely. 
• Handles technical matters within the clinical department.
• Reports all abnormal and/or out of control patient results to supervisor, division head or Pathologist.
• Records patient information and results. Phones as required.
• Correctly handles critical care value results.
• Maintain equipment used for testing and record daily preventative maintenance as required; be able to troubleshoot problems on instruments.
• Monitors, performs and records all appropriate quality controls.
• Keeps records for QC/AQ Reports.
• Informs appropriate personnel promptly when supplies and supplies of reagents are low or about to expire.
