Who are you?

 

We are seeking an experienced senior data engineer with specialization in business intelligence to perform architecture and development activities within the data engineering team and provide mentorship, guidance, onboarding, and training of other Data Engineers. You will work closely with product management, engineering, account management, ETL, data warehouse, business intelligence, and reporting teams as you develop data pipelines and enhancements, business intelligence architecture, and investigate and troubleshoot issues, create data models, set up and investigate new technologies, and research complex data. Your adept SQL, MicroStrategy, and engineering skills will be crucial in data manipulation, development, and delivery of critical solutions.

 

In this role you will wear many hats, but your knowledge will be essential in the following:  

  • Create and maintain complex BI solutions using MicroStrategy, aligning with the healthcare and wellbeing industry standards.
  • Utilize SQL extensively for troubleshooting MicroStrategy and understanding the implications of design choices.
  • Convert detailed business requirements into robust, functional BI solutions.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, understanding their complex data needs and ensuring fulfilment.
  • Develop API integrations and build solutions that leverage the MicroStrategy API

Champion data integrity and consistency across all BI reports and tools.

  • Proactively identify issues with the platform and assist in their resolution.
  • Triaging complex bugs and incidents and resolving them in a timely manner.
  • Active participation in sprint refinement, planning, and kick-off to help estimate stories, raise awareness and additional implementation details.
  • Performing, maintaining, and implementing new quality assurance rules, methods, and tools to maintain consistent and accurate data.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience with MicroStrategy

You also take pride in offering the following Core Skills, Competencies, and Characteristics:

  • Understanding of the MicroStrategy semantic layer and all objects and functions of the tool, including dossiers, reports, attributes, facts, advanced metrics, filters, prompts, consolidations, custom groups, derived elements, and many other features.
  • Deep understanding of modern relational and non-relational models and differences between them.
  • Clear understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and how to include the full cycle in development of BI reports and tools.
  • Ability to build, understand, and use APIs.
  • Deep understanding of relational database modeling and the implications of design choices on performance.
  • Experience with Snowflake or similar
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban
  • Detail oriented and able to examine data and code for quality and accuracy.
  • Able to lead and mentor more junior data engineers.
  • Self-Starter – taking initiative when inefficiencies or opportunities are seen.
  • Expert in writing complex SQL, including pivots, window functions, and complex date calculations.
  • Fluent in Python programming language.

In compliance with all states and cities that require transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges up to $125,000 annually. Note that salary may vary based on location, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for 10% target bonus/variable compensation as well as health, dental, vision, mental health and other benefits.
