Job Summary:
The role of the Specialty Care Transport (SCT) Nurse is to provide the required care during transport between designated facilities by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient’s needs during each encounter. The SCT Nurse demonstrates leadership by adhering to standards of patient care, providing the highest level of customer service and by directing the multidisciplinary patient care team. The SCT Nurse accepts the responsibility of creating an environment which promotes healing and wellness, demonstrated by delivery of positive patient and family-centered care services.
Position Responsibilities:
Performs patient assessment and provides appropriate treatment according to established protocols and medical command during all patient transports.
Functions as the crew leader on a multi-disciplinary care team.
Accurately and completely documents patient assessment, treatment, response to treatment and transfer of care upon completion of every incident. Accurately and efficiently responds to all quality assurance requests.
Effectively manages rapidly changing situations and demonstrates standard precautions and patient safety principles in practice.
Maintains all Virtua owned equipment and property in a safe, clean and secure manner.
Performs vehicle and equipment check at the start of each shift. Ensures that the SCTU is ready for service at all times.
Position Qualifications Required:
Required Experience:
(1) year minimum nursing experience required, (2) years nursing experience preferred in an Emergency Department or a Critical Care Unit. Strong critical thinking skills required with the ability to work autonomously, and as part of a team during delivery of patient care.
Required Education:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. BSN preferred.
Training / Certification / Licensure:
ACLS, PALS, CPR certifications required. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey. Valid driver’s license. Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) required. Current CCRN certification or CEN certification preferred.
