ABOUT THE COMPANY
UTFL manufactures standard and custom thin film coatings for commercial and military applications from the UV to the far infrared wavelengths. UTFL’s engineers and technicians are experts in producing the most demanding optical thin film coatings available.
UTFL currently occupies a brand new 10,000 square foot laboratory with 6 coating chambers. Each chamber is dedicated to specific types of precision optical coatings to allow for fast turnarounds and high performance. UTFL employs the latest technology to produce a wide variety of the most advanced coatings on the market today.
POSITION SUMMARY
Thin Film is looking for a Coating Manager with entrepreneurial spirit and vision that looks for innovative and inspiring ways to drive a positive company culture, high-performance among the team and profitability. In addition, the Lab Manager plays a significant role in maintaining relationships with clients and vendors, generating new business, increasing staff productivity, improving service, ensuring sustainability, and meeting business objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Function as a member of the UTFL Senior Leadership Team and report directly to the CEO/VP
• Oversee all Coating Operations
• Collaborate with Vice President on Short & Long-Term Strategic Visioning
• Establish and Promote a Positive Company Culture
• Manage, Direct and be Accountable for all UTFL production activities
• Budget and Financial Planning in collaboration with Vice President
• Business Development
• Manage Staff, Vendor Relations and Customer Service
• Manage and Maintain Excellent Quality Control Measures
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in Science and/or Technology.
• 3-5 years management experience.
• 2-4 years of experience in the Photonics’ industry.
• Due to the type of work at the facility and certain access government security restrictions, successful applicants should be a U.S. Citizen
• Ability to interact constructively with peers/supervisor/engineers and communicate ideas and observations in both written and verbal form
• Superior knowledge of Thin Film Coating functions
• Exceptional budgeting and finance skills
• Strong leadership qualities
