SUMMARY: Maintenance assistant is responsible for ensuring that facilities are in good operating condition. Responsibilities may include cleaning buildings and rooms, and performing general maintenance and repair of the building, grounds, and equipment.
HOURS WORKED: As needed between 7:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday thru Friday (Full-time)

LOCATION: New Baden, IL
PAY: $18.00-22:00/hour depending upon experience
Weekend hours. Limited travel with overnight accommodations may be necessary to meet business requirements as directed by Vista Care.

Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for the maintenance and up-keep of all property owned or operated by Vista Care and its affiliates.
- Ensure that all facilities are maintained in a safe and professional manner.
- Ensure that all maintenance duties are completed in such a way that the safety and well-being of all Vista Cares residents and staff are protected.
Position Requirements:
- Light Plumbing
- Replace Faucets and Fixtures
- Maintenance of hot water mixing valves, water softeners, and sump pumps
- Clearing obstructions from existing plumbing
- Coordinating Licensed Plumbers when needed
- Light Electrical
- Replace outlets and lighting fixtures
- Perform low-voltage work such as garage door openers and door bells
- Coordinating Licensed Electricians when needed
- HVAC
- Replace Filters
- Clean air conditioning condensers
- Maintain and clean dryer vents
- Coordinate Licensed HVAC Contractors when needed
- Fire Safety
- Replace batteries in all smoke alarms
- Review fire alarm testing and report to Director of Operations
- Schedule fire extinguisher maintenance
- Schedule sprinkler system maintenance
- Flooring
- Clean flooring as needed; to include carpet, linoleum, and tile.
- Coordinate outside contractors as needed.
- General Maintenance
- Painting
- Patching walls
- Replacing hardware
- Grounds Maintenance
- Snow removal
- Mowing and maintaining lawns.
- Performing seasonal clean-up
- Track delivery and use of salt
- Maintain and repair all grounds maintenance equipment
- Coordinating licensed contractors as needed
- Appliance Repair and Maintenance
- Repair or replace appliances as needed
- Coordinating licensed contractors as needed
- Maintain a record of all appliances
- Maintain Licensing Information for all Homes
- Well Inspections
- Water Testing
- Fire Equipment
- Furnace Inspections
- Septic Inspections
- Maintain Detailed Maintenance Records for all Programs
- Monitor and Report Financial Activity of the Maintenance Department
- Perform other assignments as directed by the Director of Operations or Vista Care Administration.
- Participate in an On-Call rotation with the ability to respond to calls within 20 minutes.
- Attend scheduled administrative meetings.
- All other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Have at least 5 years of experience in a related trade
- Have a valid State driver’s license, be insurable, and maintain a good driving record.
- Write and correspond in a legible manner, operate general office equipment, and maintain technical skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and be able to bend, squat, twist, reach, and stand on a continual basis.
- Prompt and regular attendance is a requirement.
