What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Case Aide position at VISTA MARIA?
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide coaching and mentoring to modify child behavior in a positive and supportive manner.
- Provide one-on-one assistance with clients for behavioral management and redirection in school, foster home, planning family home and other community settings.
- Provide treatment updates to supervisor and treatment foster care workers for development of client treatment plans.
- Provide behavior management skills training to foster parents and planning families.
- Create a welcoming environment and facilitates positive relationships with potential or existing foster care family members.
- Participate in Family Team Meetings (FTM, case conferences, IEPS) with clients as necessary.
- Complete case notes for each face-to-face contact within 48 hours.
- Stays informed of current practice developments within the profession, and uses educational and training opportunities to ensure continual professional competence.
- Plan and organize work to meet all requirements according to agency and COA standards, licensing and funding requirements.
- Prepare for and participates in individual meetings, team meetings, and other agency meetings.
- Coordinate and facilitate foster parent orientation and training services.
- Assist with record keeping and organization for Foster Care, Adoption and Licensing files.
- Perform all other duties as required or requested by the agency.
Qualifications Required:
- High School diploma/GED/equivalent and one year experience in a childcare or child placing facility or organization.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather condition.
- Ability to pass medical and physical stamina examination, according to licensing and contract requirements.
- Demonstrate ability to interact positively in a culturally diverse environment.
- Valid Michigan driver’s license without relevant restrictions.
- Demonstrate proficiency in basic computer skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, and some understanding of child welfare services.
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
Qualifications Preferred:
- Associate’s degree in a Human Services discipline and one year of experience with a child welfare organization.
In accordance with the Agency’s Mission Statement, Code of Ethics, policies and procedures, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services rules, policies and contracts, and COA standards, the Foster Care Behavioral Case Aide is responsible for providing behavior intervention techniques for clients and behavior management skills training for foster parents and families.
