Viterra is seeking a Purchaser at our Canola Processing Facility in Warden, Washington. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day spare parts inventory for the facility, accounts payable system as well as the maintenance for mobile and communication equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, direct and control activities related to the procurement function and have the ability to identify and implement improvements.
- Establish a supplier network that is capable of providing high quality products and services.
- Maintain an inventory system to track the ordering of EH&S supplies, spare parts, receiving, deliveries and adjustments. Maintains adequate inventory of consumable parts.
- Prepare instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures. Maintains records for the facility Food Defense program pertaining to purchasing and receiving
- Complete purchase requisitions and prepares purchase orders. Ensures correctness of account coding and labelling. Plans for parts acquisitions for shutdowns.
- Design, implement and monitor procurement KPI’s and reporting systems.
- Develop a system to evaluate vendor quotations that utilize appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service.
- Prepare and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements.
- Receive invoices and verifies accuracy with purchase orders. Follows up with vendor in case of discrepancies.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Solid and demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Ability to add recommendations to copies of manuals and documentation.
- Knowledge of CMMS systems (Nuvolo in particular) is considered an asset.
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read blueprints or drawings is considered an asset
- Must understand laws regarding manufacture’s sales and use tax exemption.
Education and Qualifications:
- Minimum three (3) years of purchasing experience, preferably in an industrial or food processing environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge skill and competence will be considered.
