Overview
Vitro, the #1 manufacturer and distributor of automotive glass has an immediate opening for a Quality Technician in our Westland, MI facility. Reporting to the Quality Manager and Quality Supervisor, the Quality Technician is responsible for providing value to the Vitro organization by contributing leadership, planning, and technical knowledge to ensure compliance with Vitro, customer, and governmental quality specifications and regulations. Continuous Improvement, Corrective Actions and TS16949 system Management.
Responsibilities
· Perform First piece and hourly inspections.
· Measure Glass Assembly size on fixtures
· Report any damage or failure of the checking fixtures.
· Responsible for data collection on the line
· Responsible for daily measurement sheet for production lines
· Responsible for identifying reject and rework glass.
· Perform primer thickness checks.
· Perform a 4M Line audit per week.
· Review the Urethane Test Samples.
· Perform destructive glass test as required.
· Review the quality and production reports, and feedback for correct filling.
· File and control QMS reports.
· Dock audit for shipment.
· Check and confirm calibration status of the measuring equipment.
· Assist in training associates on the production lines and new inspectors.
· Responsible for maintaining the Hold system. This includes:
· Quarantining suspect material and completing appropriate documentation
· Notifying appropriate individuals
· Loading and releasing material on SAP
· Working with staff, supervisors, engineers, and managers to disposition suspect materials.
· Ensuring disposition is executed and documentation is updated and maintained.
· Keeping their carts and workstations by a 5’s standard.
· Any other duties assigned by the supervisor as required.
PERFORMANCE METRICS:
SCRAP indicator as listed on the work instructions and escalation process on the line.
4M Audit compliance.
Customer Quality Rejects.
IATF Audit Certification.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Ability to lift 25 pounds repetitively for an 8-hour shift.
Ability to stand for an 8-hour shift.
Ability to visually inspect
Ability to use measuring equipment
