The Executive Director of Diversity and Inclusion is responsible for overseeing the company’s diversity initiatives. The purpose of this position is to ensure VIVA fosters a culture that is inclusive, supports equity, and proactively leverages the multiple dimensions of diversity. This will be accomplished by planning, guiding and advising the CEO and senior leadership team on diversity, equity, and inclusion matters, and collaborating with Human Resources and management to create, implement and monitor programs designed to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all. This is a 32-hour/wk position located in our Birmingham office with occasional work-from-home opportunities.
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Degree in human resources, business, or a related discipline
- Seven years of experience coordinating workplace diversity initiatives, with a minimum of five years of professional experience managing formal organizational diversity initiatives
- Experience working in the field of human resources, specifically employee relations and training and development
- Excellent working knowledge of labor laws as well as experience responding to EEOC issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication along with presentation skills
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Must be self-initiating, exercise good judgment, and be able to work with minimal supervision
- Must be collaborative and creative
- Strong analytical skills and ability to translate metrics, research, and trends into strategy
- Proven influencing and relationship-building skills with internal and external partners and people from various backgrounds and cultures
- Ability to occasionally travel to events within the regional area
PREFERRED:
- Experience in HR compliance, compensation, and recruitment
