Job Summary:
The Director, Total Rewards will make an immediate impact by owning and advancing our total rewards philosophy and strategy in supporting our current and future team members. He/she will partner with functional leaders to ensure programs are rewarding, competitive and aligned with company goals. This individual will also play a critical role in supporting companywide HR data, analysis, and reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Sr. Director, HR and external consultants to design and evolve programs for executive and team compensation strategies as best-in-class; lead projects for key compensation initiatives such as compensation structure design and implementation, market benchmarking, career path and ladder formation, short and long-term incentive programs, and prepare materials for Compensation Committee meetings.
- Oversee Long Term Incentive program strategy and modeling to ensure our programs stay competitive to attract and retain talent.
- Conduct competitive research, analysis, and modeling for compensation programs including annual increase budgets, trends and impacts, ongoing pay equity analysis, and financial impact of incentive design scenarios, using various compensation tools and systems.
- Partner with functional leaders to address rewards, retention needs, and development of total rewards communications and trainings; provide advice on total rewards strategy (e.g., promotions/transfers, job offers, relocations) including policy and guideline interpretation, along with annual and midyear compensation of base salary and merit analysis benchmarking (position analysis, levelling evaluations, occupational information) and updating ranges and structures.
- Provide support for HR systems, including researching and resolving issues, unexpected results, or process flaws; performing scheduled activities including running reports or developing custom reports; recommending solutions or alternate method to meet requirements.
- Partner with HR team members to manage and facilitate successful delivery of the overall Performance Management
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to maintain job classifications, candidate leveling, and ensure proper adherence to California Pay Transparency Law.
- Regularly work with compensation vendors such as Aon Radford to update compensation data and trends
- Assist in fostering a “Top Workplaces” culture
Experience and education requirements:
- BS degree with a minimum 10 years of hands-on total rewards, compensation, and benefits experience with demonstrated progression in responsibility in a fast-paced, growth environment (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
- Life sciences experience required, preferably within both small biotech and mid-large sized pharma
- Deep knowledge of executive and non-executive compensation programs including Long Term Incentive planning and practices, base salary, variable pay and performance management, job evaluation, data analysis, research, and predictive and project modeling.
- Strong analytical skills with an emphasis on key insights, trends, issue identification and recommendations.
- Demonstrated experience with mentoring and coaching colleagues on matters relating to compensation and total rewards.
- Strong problem-solving aptitude, creative, flexible, and consultative; strong sense of business needs and making decisions based on data and emerging priorities
- Strong communications skills: ability to listen and communicate accurate information concerning processes, plans and procedures in a collaborative, team-based manner.
- Experience in Paylocity or other HRIS preferred.
