Summary:

In this role, you will provide strategic and tactical leadership to staff to drive member hospital organizations to value through cost-reduction initiatives and exceed departmental goals through development of agreement and program portfolios and management of supplier relationships. Using a consultative approach, this role will identify needs, develop strategies, and implement initiatives that deliver value – clinical, operational and/or financial – to the member hospital organizations. This role will be onsite at UMass

Responsibilities:

• Contribute the strategic direction of the supply chain team by setting policies and methodologies for sourcing new products or services, approving vendors, and supporting supply chain resiliency.
• Set strategies related to vendor assessments and purchasing terms and conditions to help ensure products/services ordered are delivered on time at the best quality and value.
• Collaborate with internal business partners to understand demand and supplier trends, and analyzing financial information related to total cost of ownership to identify opportunities for cost reductions.
• Analyze current vendor services and cost structures to develop short- and long-range plans to improve sourcing costs and vendor performance.
• Lead and manage negotiations for highly complex categories, including both clinical and indirect spend, at the enterprise level.
• Manage assigned cost-savings projects from initiation to completion, identifying differences in member and supplier experiences and adjusting approach accordingly.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Deliver communications to key stakeholders regarding recommendations, successes, opportunities, and challenges.
• Oversee critical supplier relationship management and contract management processes to ensure terms are met and termination dates are monitored.
• Function as one of the key decision makers if supplier performance concerns are escalated for top management direction.

Qualifications:

• Relevant degree preferred. Advanced degree is a plus.
• 7 or more years of UMass Memorial Health experience in health care, contracting, negotiating, or sales is required.
• Experience in management, leading teams, or consulting is preferred.
• Strong presentation skills and experience presenting to senior management.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of Products.
• Willingness to travel.
