What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rigging Inspector position at VLS?
Rigging Inspector
Reports to: Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Creates and responds to leads for providing quotes for annual rigging inspections.
- Reaching out to existing clients to provide quotes and scheduling of annual rigging inspections.
- Create and Maintain a schedule that allows for the completion of rigging inspections along with detailed reports for clients.
- Create field reports with dimensions and descriptions for the estimating department.
- Provide accurate reports that include repair priorities and budgetary numbers for clients.
- Interface with sales team for follow ups and other sales activities from reports.
- Interface with rigging project management team for technical support and clarifications.
- Assist the Rigging Administrator in ensuring that monthly invoices are complete and accurate.
- Responsible for maintaining current knowledge of current and changing standards and regulations. Some examples include, but are not limited to, ANSI, OSHA, and NFPA 80.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications and Education:
- A Bachelor of Arts, or similar degree, in Technical Theatre is desirable.
- ETCP certification in Theatrical Rigging is required.
- OSHA 30 is required. These may be acquired after hiring.
- Must have good communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Must have excellent customer service skills (both written and verbal).
- Must have good organizational skills, with strong attention to details, including, but not limited to being prompt and accurate in submitting pack lists, invoicing, and monthly expense reports.
- Must have valid Driver’s License and have good driving record.
- Must meet all of the Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements for driving a commercial motor vehicles, including successfully obtaining and maintaining a valid Medical Examiners Certificate, within 30 days of employment
- Must be able to pass local, state, school and federal background checks, as required by project.
- Must be able to pass 7-panel drug screen.
- Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Office).
Travel Requirement:
- This position requires 50-75% time away from the office. Most trips will last less than three days. Rentals (or mileage) and applicable expenses will be reimbursed by VLS for these trips.
