RACE Technical Content Solutions (TCS) Overview

The VMware Worldwide Readiness and Customer Education (RACE) Technical Content Solutions (TCS) team develops technical training content for Customers, Partners and internal enablement of VMware employees to effectively support VMware customers. The team creates highly technical content for all major product releases and collaborates with various internal business units. The RACE TCS team is a global team and has team members across North America, Cork (Ireland), Bangalore (India); Cairo (Egypt) and Costa Rica.

Job Description:

This position is responsible for developing; updating & maintaining technical training courseware (pre-GA and post-GA) for VMware Customers, Partners, and Internal VMware employees globally. Courses will be delivered in traditional lecture/lab format; through digital media and, at times, as eLearning. This role is specifically looking for candidates with application development experience and a passion for developing educational material.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Develop Technical Training Content on MAPBU products (especially on Tanzu Kubernetes Grid; Tanzu Mission Control; Kubernetes; Harbor; etc…) for VMware Education.
  • Understanding how to install, configure, manage the following products and make them available to AppOps and Developers: Tanzu Kubernetes Grid; Tanzu Application Service; Tanzu Build Service; Tanzu Application Platform; etc...
  • Collaborate with VCIs, PM, TPMs and Engineering SMEs to validate course design and content.
  • Develop and deliver content for customer webinars and TOIs for internal audience.
  • Design and Develop Hands-on Labs exercises to support the technical training curriculum.
  • Develop custom courses to cater to the customer and internal audience requirements.
  • Develop technical courseware for Pre-GA readiness.
  • Participate in Train the Trainer (TTT) sessions with fellow Instructors and Developers.
  • Develop the content in the structured content authoring tool (Xyleme) for both Instructor-Led, Digital and eLearning course formats.
  • Conduct customer event sessions for education as needed.
  • Participate in retrospective meetings of courses developed and provide feedback to improve courseware.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to understand roadmap, product design and usability for customers.
  • Advise management on the course priority of what should be built first to support the vision of the MAPBU product and sales teams.
  • Update and maintain existing courseware and labs.
  • Participate in ongoing meetings with stakeholders and communicate project status.
  • Partner with engineering to structure and design TOI (transfer of information) content.
  • Work with VMware's internal readiness teams, technical publications, instructor teams and systems engineering to ensure consistency of product documentation and training materials to exploit opportunities for reuse of these materials.
  • Investigating, developing, and implementing programs for alternative education channels for customers and strategic partners, such as online webinars, eLearning, and technical awareness seminars
  • Partner with other business functions to gauge the pulse and need of the customer and tie that back into course materials

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • 5 years’ experience with design and implementation of distributed systems architectures on private or public cloud infrastructure.
  • 2 years of experience with vSphere; NSX; Kubernetes; Harbor
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in the Kubernetes ecosystem with projects like: Harbor, Contour, Fluent Bit, Prometheus, Grafana, Velero, Antrea, Calico
  • Experience installing, configuring and managing the following products and making them available to AppOps and Developers: Tanzu Kubernetes Grid; Tanzu Application Service; Tanzu Build Service; Tanzu Application Platform; etc...
  • Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to mentor others
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and navigate complex decision making
  • Demonstration of applying systems thinking to solve organizational problems.
  • Experience presenting to small and large audiences
  • Analytical ability, problem-solving skills, and ability to break down complex problems
  • Effective in working both independently and in a team setting

Certifications:

  • VCP-DCV or VCP-NV required.
  • VCAP-DCV or VCAP-NV would be beneficial
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator certification from the Cloud Native Computing Foundation would be beneficial
